In this special Back-to-School edition of Lunch & Learn, join Alex France — award-winning graphic designer and senior art director at Rising Tide Communications — for a refresher course in “Grids for Graphic Designers."
A grid is the foundational organizing structure that grounds a design. It is the skeleton upon which design elements are arranged, bringing order to the material presented. Whether you are laying out a flyer, magazine, newsletter, annual report, book, poster, label, or ad, the grid you choose helps to lead the reader through the information provided and eases the decision-making process for the designer.
Alex will review grid types and components, discussing when and how to best use the various options available for creating a grid and the impact these decisions make on your final design.
